Crynodeb

We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and compassionate Handyman to join our friendly team at Briarcroft Care Home, a specialist dementia care home committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and homely environment for our residents.
About the Role
As our Handyman, you’ll play a vital part in keeping Briarcroft running smoothly. Your work will directly support the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of our residents by ensuring the building, equipment, and grounds are well‑maintained, safe, and welcoming. This is a varied, hands‑on role in a fast‑paced environment where high standards truly matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out day‑to‑day repairs, maintenance tasks, and basic DIY across the home
- Complete routine checks, including fire safety, water temperature monitoring, and equipment inspections
- Maintain the home’s fixtures, fittings, and outdoor areas to a safe and tidy standard
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management
- Support with moving furniture, assembling equipment, and setting up rooms when needed
- Work safely and in line with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and infection control procedures
- Liaise with external contractors and support planned maintenance works
About You
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or caretaking role (care home experience desirable but not essential)
- Confident with general repairs, basic plumbing, painting, and DIY tasks
- Strong awareness of health and safety, including safe working practices
- Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise tasks in a busy environment
- Friendly, approachable, and respectful when working around residents living with dementia
- Able to work independently and use initiative
What We Offer
- A supportive, welcoming team environment
- Training and development opportunities
- Free meals on shift
- Hours based on a two‑week rolling rota, including on-call at weekend
- Competitive pay dependent on experience
If you take pride in your work and want to make a meaningful difference in a home where your skills truly matter, we’d love to hear from you.
