About the Role

The Environmental Health and Safer Places team protects Nottingham's communities, environment, health, and safety of citizens. Discharging several of the Council’s statutory duties, regulating activities that cause air pollution, contaminate land, cause statutory nuisances or unnecessary risks to people and buildings and by preventing, investigating and resolving complaints about statutory nuisances and similar environmental/public health risks and hazards, thereby reducing health inequalities and improving the quality of life and health of citizens.

In this important role, you’ll be part of a dynamic team working to keep Nottingham safe, clean, and thriving. You’ll manage a busy inbox, handle referrals, and provide excellent customer service by contacting customers for further information. You’ll use a range of data and financial systems to process orders and payments, collate information, produce reports, and ensure our IT systems are accurate and up to date.

Alongside your administrative responsibilities, you’ll support Enforcement Officers and Environmental Health Officers with investigations, monitor air quality and noise using advanced equipment, gather evidence, prepare statements, and even attend court when required.

We’re looking for someone with sharp communication and organisational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with absolute discretion. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

· Ability to communicate effectively verbally in order to liaise with other organisations and customers.

· Knowledge of work planning and time management principles and an ability to prioritise work and tasks accordingly.

· Knowledge of environmental legislation and its application, particularly with regard to air pollution and air quality, contaminated land and land quality and noise nuisance.

· Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships.
