Adult Critical Care are looking to employ a motivated and conscientious experienced nurse to join our friendly and dynamic multi professional team caring for critically ill patients and their families. You will have a broad experience and insight into caring for acutely unwell patients and their families. You will have the ability to lead a team, prioritise and respond to planned and unplanned situations and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the unit.

Successful candidates will be expected to work across site as needed. they will also be required to work both days and night shifts as well as participating in the cross site rotation programme.



You must lead the team in developing critical care by promoting excellence and innovative thinking.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under pressure in a stressful environment with complex situations.

You will need to solve clinical problems and issues sensitively and have enhanced skills to support others to achieve this. Clinical knowledge and skills are integral to this role as it is a commitment to working as part of a dedicated team by supporting new developments and thus enhancing the Critical Care service.

‘If you have not completed the Critical Care Course you will still be considered for short list. However, the expectation is that you will undertake the course within the first year in post’

The post holder will act as deputy to the Unit sister/charge nurse. He/she will be required to:
Act as the deputy to the Unit sister/charge nurse regularly taking charge of the Unit and ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients, together with the environment in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non‑clinical governance.Work flexibly as a member of the Unit team and in support of the Unit Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
