We are a large, successful, and richly diverse comprehensive school adjacent to Calderstones Park, South Liverpool and are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our close-knit SEND Team on a permanent basis.
The school’s comprehensive nature and community spirit is something that we value immensely. In every aspect of school life, we aim to offer a first-class education to local children, whatever their background, gender, prior attainment, or faith. We will raise the bar for our students and our staff with the view that 'nobody rises to low expectations'. We are also an equal opportunities and disability confident employer and positively welcome applications from all people regardless of their gender, gender identity, creed, marital status, race, age, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our amazing school on a permanent basis and work with our SEND team and teaching staff to support students in the classroom.
Duties include:
• Support students with learning activities as agreed with the teacher
• Prepare and set out classroom resources when required
• Support in the feedback process to teachers regarding pupil progress and behaviour
• Adjust learning activities based on pupils’ responses as appropriate
• Encourage inclusion in the classroom and encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities
• To anticipate and manage behaviour constructively
• To run small group and 1 to 1 interventions for literacy and numeracy
• To apply knowledge of SEND and SEMH to positively support the classroom environment and the learning of all students
Experience of working with young people (age 11-19) with SEND, and an awareness of neurodiversity is essential. You will either have a nationally recognised qualification in a relevant field or be willing to work towards one. A good standard of numeracy and literacy to GCSE grade C (or equivalent) is essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This role would suit someone with energy and enthusiasm for learning, who is calm, patient, and compassionate. The successful candidate will be able to support students in the classroom to fully access our outstanding curriculum, cultural events and enrichment activities.
The hours of work are 8.35 am – 3.05 pm, 3 days per week, with a 45-minute unpaid lunch. This role is term-time only, plus 17.25 hours to be used outside of core hours to support the school or training needs. Annual salary is split into 12 equal monthly payments.
