Summary

Knitting Machine Operator

Location: Rochdale
⏰ Hours: 7:30am – 4:10pm Monday – Thursday / 7:30 – 12:30 Friday
Pay: £12.40 per hour
Contract: Temporary ongoing

We are currently seeking a Knitting Machine Operative to join our clients production team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate knitting machines to manufacture fabrics in line with production schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance during operation, identifying defects in fabric and responding promptly to any issues.
- Detect and repair fabric faults, including threading cotton ends into machines and tying in warp ends when required.
- Carry out occasional tasks at height, such as accessing elevated machine components for adjustments or maintenance, using provided safety equipment and training.
- Perform manual handling duties involving weights between 8kg and 14kg, including the movement of yarns, beams, and finished products.
- Maintain cleanliness of machinery and the surrounding work area to support a safe and efficient working environment.
- Complete basic production documentation, including records of output, downtime, and faults.
- Participate in training and develop the ability to operate additional machinery within the department to support team flexibility.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:
✅ Sufficient physical fitness to undertake manual handling tasks and occasional work at height
✅ Strong attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify and resolve machine or fabric faults.
✅ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced production environment.
✅ Basic literacy and numeracy skills to accurately complete production records.
