Summary
Your new role
Southend Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Sensory Rehabilitation Worker.The successful candidate will manage their own case load and be responsible for supporting residents across Southend and out-of-city cases to offer specialist visual impairment/sensory assessments and appropriate support in the right place at the right time. They will undertake sensory rehabilitation practice that is person-centred, strengths-based and considers community assets.They will be required to provide interventions and recommendations to promote independence. Also ensuring that the residents of Southend are supported with the correct advice, information and relevant signposting and prompted to utilise the assets which already exist in their local community.
As this position is based around community work, you are required to hold a driving licence and have access to a car.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.
What you'll need to succeed
To be shortlisted for this position, it is essential that you hold an Honours Degree or Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent. Have previous experience as a sensory rehabilitation worker within the community and have a clear understanding of the role of an Occupational Therapy team within a local authority.
You need to have the ability to prioritise, manage your own caseload and work efficiently with other agencies and professionals.
