Summary


We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our team on the Charing Cross site as part of the wider critical care therapy service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Our friendly department is full of opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic physiotherapist who wishes to progress specialist clinical expertise and leadership skills within a critical care unit within a London-based trust. This post would be based within critical care and Respiratory medicine at the Charing Cross Hospital site. This would include a wide variety of patients on critical care including Neurosurgery, Neurology, ENT, Colorectal, Stroke and medicine. The post holder would also have a role in overseeing the respiratory Physiotherapy service to the Acute Respiratory Unit and respiratory medicine ward.

We are looking for an experienced band 6 or current band 7 physiotherapist, with a keen interest in the field of respiratory and critical care physiotherapy. You will have a wide range of clinical experience, good communication skills, interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering excellent patient centred care. You will have the opportunity to develop your specialist skills and knowledge in the areas of respiratory physiotherapy including NIV, ventilator and tracheostomy weaning and rehabilitation within the critical care.
• To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including management of patients in your care and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
• To provide comprehensive and specialist therapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a range of highly complex presentations, by utilising advanced clinical reasoning, evidence-based knowledge, investigative and analytical skills and specialist assessment techniques.
• To flexibly manage responsibilities for own complex caseload, service delivery and teaching commitments. To decide priorities for own work, balancing other patient related and professional demands and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the teams as a whole.
• As a lead member of the department, ensure teaching programmes and clinical education / supervision meet the needs of more junior staff’s education and development to ensure that a specialist knowledge of intervention is acquired at all levels. To develop and conduct local in-service and MDT training.
• Promote a culture of research awareness, research preparedness and activity in the team
• To take a lead in the development of the specialist clinical area/team and develop objectives and support prioritisation of projects for the team.
• To ensure own and direct reports’ Personal Development Plans (PDP) are in line with therapies and trust objectives.
