Your new role

As an Arboricultural Consultant, you will join a well‑established and highly regarded arboricultural team delivering consultancy services across a wide range of development and infrastructure projects throughout the UK.You will work with a diverse portfolio of clients to provide high‑quality arboricultural advice, supporting sustainable design and development while safeguarding existing trees and woodland assets.

The team is collaborative, supportive and passionate about trees, with a strong emphasis on technical quality, innovation and knowledge‑sharing.Your role will involve a balance of fieldwork, technical reporting and client liaison, and you will collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to contribute to complex, multi‑sector projects. You will also have opportunities to help develop and promote arboricultural services, contribute to best practice, and grow your technical and professional capability within a supportive consultancy environment.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking tree surveys in accordance with BS5837:2012
  • Preparation of BS5837 arboricultural reports, constraints plans and impact assessments
  • Acting as an arboricultural clerk of works / site supervisor during construction phases
  • Delivering tree risk and hazard assessments using recognised methodologies (e.g. PTI, QTRA)
  • Providing professional arboricultural advice to clients and project teams
  • Supporting the development and promotion of arboricultural consultancy services


What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong practical grounding in arboriculture combined with consultancy‑level surveying and reporting skills.
You will ideally have:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in arboriculture (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Proven experience undertaking BS5837:2012 surveys, reports and VTA within a consultancy or commercial setting
  • Experience of tree risk assessment, with training in a recognised methodology (e.g. PTI, QTRA, VALID or TRAQ)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging clients and project teams
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
  • Working knowledge of GIS and/or CAD software for producing arboricultural plans (desirable)

Professional Tree Inspector (PTI) certification and experience supervising arboricultural works on site would be advantageous but not essential.
