Summary
Clinical Responsibilities: Ensure the smooth running on a day-to-day basis of full antenatal clinic services Provide support, information, advocacy and referral to other agencies as required Participation in the care and investigation of women with high-risk pregnancies who require further investigation. Liaise with obstetric and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high-risk women receive personalised care. Provide specialist clinical care and advice to maternity staff within the unit and, to others within the community. Liaise with others within the multidisciplinary team, e.g. Diabetic Service, Safeguarding team, Antenatal and Neonatal screening specialist midwife, Neonatal team, Blood Bourne virus team. Communication and Relationship Skills 1. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team, allied groups within the acute Trust and Community Health, public and voluntary sectors. 2. Represent and promote the Women's Service Unit, Women & Children's Division and Trust internally and externally as required. 3. Provide and disseminate professional and clinical knowledge to multi-disciplinary team. 4. To communicate highly sensitive and complex information to women and their families clearly explaining the benefits and risks of different care approaches and the alternatives available recognising barriers to acceptance. 5. To ensure that essential information on a womans condition and decisions taken regarding care are recorded and communicated appropriately according to Trust policy and Nursing and Midwifery Council Guidelines. Managerial Responsibilities 1. Required to manage antenatal team members on a day-to-day basis and undertake appraisals of all staff members within the team. 2. Required to promote and provide opportunities and resources for staff development and training. 3. Required to create, implement and support change management within the department. 4. Required to disseminate information to create understanding and ensure all are working to the same goal. 5.
