JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant
We are the parents of a fun loving and outgoing 9 year old boy, who loves football and music. He has cerebral palsy and is a full-time electric wheelchair user. He has no issues with verbal communication and has no further medical difficulties. He attends mainstream school and lives in the area of Pontprennau. He is very intelligent. No personal care is required as part of this role. We are keen to promote his independence so that he is ready for senior school in September 2024.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Ensuring our son can get home from school safely. He would use his electric wheelchair throughout the journey and knows the route well.
PLACE OF WORK
Pontprennau. Travel away from school and our home may be required on occasions. No transportation needed providing you can get your place of work.
HOURS OF WORK
Monday or Tuesday and Friday 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM during term time. We have an additional six hours to use flexibly during the school holidays. We are hoping all of these hours will increase over time.
RATE OF PAY
£14.00 an hour.
TASKS INVOLVED
Assisting me after school.
Marinating my safety and wellbeing at all times.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Experience of working with someone with CP an advantage.
Able to handle a wheelchair safely.
Able to respect privacy and confidentiality.
Reliable, honest and trustworthy.
Similar leisure interests would be an advantage.
A full driving licence is desirable.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
