A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
We are looking for a reliable, caring Personal Assistant to support our 15 year old son at home.
He lives with his parents in Pontypridd. We are a disabled household, so we’re looking for someone who understands that flexibility, patience, and common sense matter more than buzzwords.
The client is a happy, affectionate, easy going lad with a great sense of humour and a big laugh. He is non-verbal but has full understanding of what is said to him and communicates clearly in his own way. He enjoys familiar routines and responds well to calm, consistent support.
He loves watching Mr Tumble, In the Night Garden, and Baby Jake his iPad, tv and YouTube are his comfort and focus, so you’ll need to be confident using technology.
The client has complex physical needs. He is a wheelchair user, double incontinent, and receives all fluids and nutrition via a PEG. He is currently awaiting hip surgery. Full personal care is required.
Manual handling is a key part of the role, including use of a hoist. Full training will be provided, so previous experience is helpful but not essential the right attitude is far more important.
The right person will be:
Calm, patient, and genuinely caring
Reliable and able to follow routines closely
Comfortable with personal care and manual handling
Willing to learn his routine
Confident using technology
Respectful of his dignity and individuality
This is a rewarding role supporting a lovely young person to live his life safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support in the home and out in the community.
RATE(S) OF PAY
£14.75
HOURS OF WORK
7 hours a week with supported transport from dad when accessing the community.
(Can be flexible either sat/sun between 1pm-5pm)
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
Support in the home.
Going to see the fish in Pugh’s garden centre.
Getting out in the fresh air.
Personal care is required as I wear nappies.
Applying cream.
Oral feeding once training and confidence is established.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone who is bubbly and friendly.
A reliable person who is punctual.
A support with my family for my care.
Someone who is up to date with using technology
