Your new role
As a Senior or Principal Consultant, you will support project managers in delivering Flood Risk Assessments and Hydraulic Modelling for a range of projects, primarily within residential development. You will prepare technical reports, undertake hydrological assessments, build and run hydraulic models, and liaise with clients and regulators. This role also offers the opportunity to develop project management skills and help grow the Hydrology team in a new office location.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Preparing risk assessments, site walkovers, and survey work
  • Producing technical reports (Flood Risk Assessments, ES Chapters, Modelling Reports)
  • Undertaking hydrological assessments using industry-standard software (FEH, ReFH2, WINFAP)
  • Building and running hydraulic models (HECRAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY, Flood Modeller)
  • Consulting with water regulators and stakeholders
  • Managing time and budgets under guidance from senior staff
  • Providing guidance and training to junior team members


What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant degree in Geography, Earth/Environmental Sciences, or Engineering
  • 5-7 years' experience in flood risk and hydrology consultancy
  • Familiarity with UK Flood Risk and Drainage policy/guidance
  • Experience preparing flood risk assessments and modelling reports
  • Knowledge of hydrology and modelling software (FEH, ReFH2, HECRAS, TUFLOW, etc.)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Membership or working towards chartership (CIWEM)
