Summary
Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification The post holder will work in partnership with and provide cover for the Network Gynae Oncology CNS. They will work as part of the multi-professional team, ensuring that patients with gynecological tumors receive the highest standard of care and support from time of diagnosis onward. The post holder will represent the trust and the Lead cancer nurse at all meetings related to the cancer service framework and in particular those pertaining to Gynae oncology service. In addition, the post holder will be expected to participate in the management and strategic development of the Gynae oncology service by:o Being recognised as an expert in their field holding additional specialist knowledge and experience.o Providing leadership in clinical practice for the professional team and peers, and ensuring effective learning experience for students through provision of an education environment.o Actively disseminating best practice through publication and conference presentations and participating in nursing research and national working parties.o The post holder is expected to develop this role in accordance with the work of Hamric, Spross and Hanson (1995), THE Trent report (2001) on Nurse Specialists, and the Novice to Expert Model (Benner 1986). The key components identified for the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist include:o Expert Clinical Practiseo Educationo Research & Audito Leadership and Consultancyo Professional Role. You should be confident and self-motivated, with excellent influencing skills and, utilising the benefit of your clinical knowledge and experience, be able to act as a resource to all levels of healthcare professional and support staff.
