Weft Knitting Machine Operative
Full Time | Day Shift | Competitive Salary
We are a leading manufacturer of knitted fabrics for technical applications and are looking to recruit a Weft Knitting Machine Operative to join our growing team.
About the Role
You will be responsible for running a variety of V Bed and Circular Knitting Machines on a day shift. This is a hands on role within a small, privately owned company where teamwork and flexibility are essential.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (30 minute lunch break)
• Additional: Shift work may be required during busy periods
Experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided. This role offers excellent opportunities to develop into other areas of fabric production and machine programming, with strong prospects for salary progression.
Key Responsibilities
• Run knitting machines, replacing empty yarn packages as required
• Monitor machine performance to ensure consistent fabric quality
• Clean machines regularly, including vacuuming and removing lint or fibre build up
• Remove completed rolls of fabric from machines (up to 25 kg)
• Maintain a tidy and organised workspace
• Support wider production tasks as needed, including:
o Quality control
o Fabric inspection/examination
o Re rolling
o Packing and despatching orders
