St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).

Job Summary

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality specialist driving education and training to St John people and external stakeholders. It ensures all participants are trained to the appropriate standards, travel safely, and are equipped to carry out their roles effectively.

The role holder will provide expert support and learning advice, coordinating the assessment, planning, and delivery of driver training in line with organisational requirements. In addition, the role includes undertaking incident investigations within the specialist driving area, contributing to organisational and individual learning and supporting continuous improvement across the charity.

About You

GCSE Maths & English at Level 4 or equivalent
FutureQuals Level 4 Diploma in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving Instruction (L4DERAD)
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or equivalent)
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (or equivalent)
DVLA full UK driving Licence including Category B with no penalty points & Qualified DVSA ADI (Car)
Demonstrable experience of delivering regulated driver training programmes
About the Role

Deliver specialist, regulated driver education and assessments (including L3CERAD, L3APCSAD, 4x4/off-road, check tests and pre-employment assessments) as part of a collaborative team.
Provide high-quality, inclusive tuition and assessment to support St John people in achieving required driving standards and performance levels.
Design, coordinate and deliver tailored driver education programmes aligned to individual needs, organisational priorities and external requirements, including appropriate reporting.
Ensure training programmes meet the requirements of awarding bodies, Goals for Driver Education and St John Ambulance, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of legislation and best practice.
Maintain professional competence and quality standards through CPD, IQA/EQA activity, standardisation processes and continuous service improvement.
Promote safe driving behaviours, support incident and behaviour reporting, contribute to course development, liaise with external stakeholders where required, and support the development of volunteer driver educators.
