Summary
Key responsibilities
• Senior Instrument Technician - Senior Process Instrument Technician primarily for site works – attending customer sites and carrying out calibrations / maintenance support activities.
• Perform regular maintenance, calibration and testing of process instrumentation.
• Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
• Work with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of instrumentation issues, repairs, and calibration activities.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure that instrumentation work is performed safely and efficiently.
• Provide technical support and training to other staff, as needed, on instrumentation and best practices. Assist with training of less experienced engineers.
• Utilise relevant test equipment to carry out site works.
• When not engaged on site would be required to support workshop activities.
Skills required
Must have experience of instrumentation – Pressure, level, Temperature, flow and Analytical with both mechanical and electronic instruments.
• Experience with troubleshooting and maintenance of a variety of equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of workshop practices.
• Knowldege of test equipment including Beamex MC5 / MC6.
• General IT skills including MS Office.
• CompEx Ex01-04 qualification would be desirable (training can be provided for suitable candidates without this qualification).
Qualifications required
GCSE Grades 5-9 including English Language, Maths, and Sciences (Physics and Chemistry).
Apprenticeship in a technical / engineering subject.
A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent) in Instrumentation or a technical / engineering discipline.
