Hours of work: 15 hours per week to be worked flexibly by arrangement and in line with the needs of the employer.
Rate of pay £15 per hour
Introduction:
A committed, Personal Assistant is required to provide support at a professional level to a 20-year-old man with Autism.
As his PA you will be required to follow his care and support plan, and support him achieve his social goals, help improve his communication and language skills, and help him develop interests independent of his family that provide practical and future life skills such as accompanied bus travel ,or accessing services as well as having some fun along the way.
Typical activities may include swimming, going to the cinema, beach walking, and occasionally support within the family home.
support may be required to assist him in attending established voluntary placements within the community.
The hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance,
The PA must have a full, clean driving licence, and access to a car with business insurance
Main Duties:
• Communicate fully with his parents so there is a uniformed ap-proach to his support.
• Ensure service user is safe in his environment.
• Never leave him unattended.
• Support him with ordering his meals and drinks when out.
• Encourage and take part in activities.
• Provide support and guidance to develop life skills.
• Assist him to attend social activities.
• Keep his family updated on activities or concerns
• To carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.
Person Specification:
• Patient, proactive and energetic person with a good sense of humour.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• knowledge of signing ( Makaton / signalong ) an advantage.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.

Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
