Summary
Ashdown Site Investigation Limited is a well-established and respected geotechnical and environmental consultancy. Our core business is the design and execution of ground investigations and the provision of geotechnical and ground contamination risk assessment reports.
We are looking to recruit a soil laboratory technician. The position is based at our head office in Ditchling Common Business Park.
The role requires no previous experience or qualifications. Full training for all aspects of the role will be given.
The role primarily involves carrying out basic geotechnical laboratory tests on soil samples to determine the physical properties of those soils, the organisation of samples and their storage, and the arrangement of batches of samples for dispatch to external labs by courier.
This is either a full-time permanent position; 40hr week, Monday to Friday (8hrs per day) or part time; 20hr week, Monday to Friday (4hrs per day), though the company may consider alternative part time distribution of hours for a suitable candidate.
28 Days holiday including bank holidays for full time position. For part time positions the holiday allowance would be applied on a Pro Rata basis.
No experience in the site investigation industry or in undertaking soil testing is necessary. However, the role can involve the physical handling of moderately heavy soil samples, working with basic test equipment and recording test results so accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
The role requires good organisational, time keeping and team working skills, attention to detail as well as a determination to see specific allocated tasks completed to a given programme.
