Summary
Salary: £25,449 to £27,621 per annum pro rata for term time working (Full time equivalent £29,540 to £32,061 per annum)

Working Pattern: Term time only - 37 hours per week
Location: Can be based at any of the 3 main depots but work across these Depots is expected -Clapham, Drayton or Hop Oast (Horsham)

The Transport Provision team is currently recruiting to this exciting new role, which will support the team across all three of our main depots in Chichester, Worthing and Horsham. The role of Minibus Driver Assessor will be influential to making sure the drivers can operate at the highest level and deliver the best service to our local communities.
We are looking for someone that has extensive driving experience, ideally within passenger transport that includes minibuses and who has a qualification in PCV driving assessor certification.

The Opportunity
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in influencing the standards of driver training and assessment, which will ensure children and young people are transported safely and professionally.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective training programmes to all drivers and passenger assistants. You will need to assess driver competency and contribute to developing tailored training plans to reflect the needs of the evolving service. Continuous improvement will be a focus in this role, and you will need to identify areas for development and make evidence- based recommendations to ensure an excellent service is delivered.
You will need to be proactive and able to work closely with all key stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, professionalism and accountability.
The role will require an element of manual handling and regular travel around the county will be required. Outside work in sometimes inclement weather may be required also.
About you
Some of the key skills, experience and knowledge required to be successful in the role include:
- Full D1 driver's license and Qualification in PCV driving assessor certification.
- Extensive driving experience and knowledge of relevant transport legislation and the ability to apply this in practical work.
- Knowledge and experience of passenger transport operations and the relevant safety equipment that goes alongside this.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally, to enable production of clear and concise reports to provide insight on assessments and training needs. You'll also need good IT skills to be able to produce these.
- Developed advisory skills to enable complex driving/equipment issues to a wide range of stakeholders to enable effective team and partnership working.
- Strong customer focus to ensure the training provided assists the team to deliver a great customer experience in the field.
- Ability to provide clear and concise advice and guidance in a training environment.

About us
The Transport Provision Team is part of the Transport Co-ordination Department. The team plans and provides passenger transport solutions. These services are provided to eligible children and allows them to get to school which supports the bus network providing millions of bus journeys each year.
The Transport Provision Team provides specialist transport for people with special needs, using its own fleet of vehicles, many of which are fully accessible. The Transport Provision Team covers the whole of West Sussex and operates out of three bases in Chichester, Horsham and Worthing.
