Summary
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST Work with autistic individuals and individuals with a learning disability in forensic inpatient and community settings as directed by the supervising SLT and/or service lead. To liaise with professionals, clients and carers Provides both direct and indirect intervention, advice and support following guidance from the SLT. Support the delivery of communication assessments and intervention programmes, adapting materials and approaches to suit individual needs and forensic risk levels. Implement therapy programmes independently (where appropriate), following guidance from the SLT. To work independently across a variety of settings (e.g. individuals homes and inpatient settings) under the guidance of a SLT. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with Trust and professional standards. To write individual communication profiles/ passports with therapist supervision as appropriate. Attend case discussions, MDT meetings, and reviews as required. To devise and develop resources including communication books/symbols/ training materials. To participate in clinical supervision. Work collaboratively with other professionals, families, and carers to promote consistent communication strategies. Participate in the delivery of communication training to staff and carers under the supervision of the SLT. Support the development of functional communication skills that enhance engagement, independence, and safety within forensic environments.
