Summary

Design Coordination & Management

  • Assist in managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion
  • Support the coordination of architects, engineers, and specialist subcontractors
  • Help ensure design information is issued on time and in line with the construction programme
  • Review design deliverables for compliance with employer's requirements and project specifications

Technical & Compliance Support

  • Assist with design risk management and identification of buildability issues
  • Support compliance with building regulations, planning conditions, and industry standards
  • Help manage design changes and maintain accurate design records
  • Assist in resolving design-related queries (RFIs) during construction

Project & Stakeholder Support

  • Attend design team meetings and produce minutes and action logs
  • Liaise with internal teams (commercial, site, planning, and procurement)
  • Support value engineering and design optimisation exercises
  • Assist in coordinating design input for tender and procurement activities

Documentation & Systems

  • Maintain design trackers, registers, and drawing schedules
  • Support document control processes and ensure correct version control
  • Assist in compiling design reports and handover documentation

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills
  • Good technical understanding of construction and design processes
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • Some experience (placement, graduate, or early career) within construction or design management
  • Basic understanding of construction methods and design stages
