More detail about FORCE and the role FORCE has been offering a compassionate, personalised and collaborative approach to cancer support for almost 40 years. We have continuously innovated and developed our services based on feedback and evidence from service users and experts. We are proud to work closely with the NHS Royal Devon University Hospital Trust Cancer Services team and many other partner organisations to help and support to all those in need. We provide a wide range of services including specialist nursing information and advice, counselling, complementary therapies, specialist oncology physiotherapy advice and exercise programmes, support with hair loss and pre-loved wigs, benefits advice, relaxation and mindfulness courses, art groups and specialised programmes to help people move on after treatment or cope with cancers that cant be cured. The need for FORCE has never been greater. Cancer touches every corner of our community. With incidence rates increasing and longer survival times, we are seeing demand for our services grow year on year. Cancer cases in Devon are predicted to rise by 10% between 2025 and 2030 (ahead of the national average). In 2024 we had more than 16,000 visits, appointments and contacts at our Cancer Support and Information Centre in Exeter and hundreds more accessed support at our outreach centres in Okehampton, Tiverton and Ottery St Mary. What makes FORCE stand out is our human and personalised approach, including the warmest of welcomes to our centres and the face-to-face nature of most of our work. This is a crucial role in helping us to make a difference to those locally who are affected by cancer. Please do get in touch if you would like to know more about the role.
