Summary
The appointees will join 15 consultant colleagues and will continue to develop this progressive Gastroenterology service. The current consultant body substantially contributes to national GI & bowel cancer screening policies, endoscopic accreditation and training. RWT is the West Midlands regional endoscopy training centre and was the first centre in the UK to deliver bowel cancer screening . There are active developments in liver disease, regional interventional endoscopy (EMR / HALO / EUS / ERCP, with spyglass), IBD, and clinical trials (both commercial and investigator led). The department is well resourced and supported (7 endoscopy rooms are available across 2 sites and 3 consultants are supported to enable them to have national roles in Endoscopy, Research and Training). It is anticipated that the successful applicant will develop a sub-speciality interest in IBD. Experience in ERCP is not required. RWT is committed to delivering top quality care and an excellent patient experience. The Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the Black Country, providing teaching and training to medical students on rotation from the University of Birmingham Medical School and training for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals through well established links with the University of Wolverhampton.
