Summary
Post Doctoral Research Associate (Dynamic and
Deterministic Modelling of Crop and Soil Processes)
About The Team:
SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe. Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher with an interest in dynamic and deterministic modelling of crop and soil processes. The successful candidate will work on the EU-funded IntercropVALUES project (The project - IntercropVALUES), which aims to harness the benefits of intercropping to design and manage productive, diversified, resilient, profitable, and environmentally sustainable cropping systems that are acceptable to farmers and stakeholders across the agri-food chain.
As part of this project, a field experiment has been conducted measuring key crop characteristics and Nâ‚‚O emissions from barley–pea intercrops. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for modelling and analysing these data.
You will be expected to contribute to publishing the results in the scientific literature so you will have a track record of publishing in refereed journals. The post holder will also be expected to develop strong linkages with colleagues in the wider academic team. You will be an excellent communicator with a record of knowledge exchange and a demonstrable ability to translate complex science into clear messages.
This is a fixed-term research role (until 31st October 2026), aligned with the lifespan of the project.”
Please read the Job Particulars document for full details of the requirements for this role.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Masters degree (SCQF Level 11) in a relevant subject, such as Agricultural, Environmental or Biological Science.
Eligibility for Sponsorship:
This role does not meet the eligibility for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. For non-UK nationals please check your eligibility prior to applying for the role.
