Contract: Flexible / Supply

Are you passionate about supporting teenagers in their academic journey and looking for a flexible work schedule? We are looking for an enthusiastic Supply Secondary Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team in Plymouth. This flexible, temporary role is crucial for maintaining continuity, assisting subject teachers across various departments to ensure all students can access the curriculum during staff absences.

The Role

The core focus of this position is to provide targeted academic support within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (ages 11-16) classrooms to cover short-term or long-term staff absences. You will work closely with the cover teacher or departmental lead to facilitate learning, manage resources, and help maintain a positive and focused learning environment during subject lessons across different areas of the school.

What We Offer
  • Competitive Pay: A flat rate of £90.00 per day, paid weekly.

  • Maximum Flexibility: Choose your own working days to fit your lifestyle.

  • Broad Experience: The opportunity to work across diverse subject areas and different Plymouth secondary schools.

  • Support: Ongoing training and induction support provided.

  • No Long-Term Commitment: Perfect for those seeking rewarding work without being tied to a fixed contract.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for reliable, adaptable, and academically capable individuals who:

  • Hold strong GCSEs and preferably A-Level qualifications (or equivalent).

  • Have experience or a demonstrable interest in working with young people (ages 11-16).

  • Possess excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Are highly adaptable and capable of quickly establishing rapport in varied classroom environments.

  • Are confident supporting challenging behaviour positively and professionally.

  • Are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • In-Class Support: Assisting across different subject departments (English, Maths, Science, etc.).

  • Small-Group Intervention: Reinforcing learning and helping students with organisation and revision techniques.

  • Resource Management: Managing classroom equipment and assisting with lesson preparation.

  • Classroom Consistency: Supporting the teacher with administrative tasks and maintaining a focused atmosphere.
