Teaching Assistant - Year 5

- Contract: Long Term Temp to Perm

Long Term Futures is supporting a welcoming, community-centred primary school in Rubery, Birmingham, seeking a skilled Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 class.This full-time role is ideal for someone confident supporting SEND pupils, delivering interventions, and working closely with the class teacher to ensure pupils make consistent progress.

Main Responsibilities:
- Support learning within a Year 5 classroom, working closely with the class teacher.
- Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, both in class and through small-group work.
- Deliver and support intervention sessions to help close learning gaps.
- Live mark work to provide immediate feedback and identify pupils needing further support.
- Support keep-up and catch-up tutoring sessions in the afternoons.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school expectations.
- Monitor pupil progress and feedback concerns to the teacher and SENCo.

What the School is Looking For:
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent degree)
- At least 1 year's experience working in a Key Stage Two primary setting
- Experience supporting children with SEN
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Experience delivering small-group or one-to-one interventions
- Confidence supporting pupils with EHCPs and personalised learning plans
- Ability to live mark and adapt support to meet pupil needs in real time
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach to learning support
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCo
