Summary
Chalk Education is recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Dukinfield. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and who has proven experience working with ASD in UK schools.
We're looking for someone with a calm, compassionate, and patient approach who can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexities of autism and enjoys helping young people thrive through structured support and consistent routines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to pupils with ASD.
- Working alongside class teachers to implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour plans.
- Supporting communication, sensory regulation, and social interaction skills.
- Encouraging independence and confidence in daily activities.
- Monitoring progress and reporting back to the teaching and SEN team.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD in a UK school setting.
- A strong understanding of autism and related behaviours.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with non-verbal or limited-verbal pupils.
- A proactive, empathetic, and patient personality.
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each pupil.
