Summary


Oral Health Promotion is a commissioned service from Derbyshire County Council and sits within the Children’s Specialist Service within Derbyshire Community Health Services Trust.

The role of the oral health improvement practitioner is to implement local oral health improvement strategies by providing a range of activities to specific population groups with identified oral health needs across Derbyshire County and for this role Derby City. It will broaden the scope of oral health promotion in the wider community by working in collaborative partnerships across sectors, agencies, and organizations in the development of oral health initiatives.

Oral Health Promotion is a commissioned service from Derbyshire County Council and sits within the Children’s Specialist Service within Derbyshire Community Health Services Trust. The focus of this role will be in the planning, delivery, maintenance and evaluation of a new Supervised Toothbrushing Programme City Smiles (Smile4Life) for 3to 5 year olds in early years settings across all Derby City Localities - including nurseries and primary schools. The base for this role will be at Walton hospital, there is scope for some agile work within this role.







Your role will be primarily to lead in the implementation of the Government manifesto promise to reduce tooth decay and improve oral health outcomes by delivering a new City Smiles (Smile4lIfe) Supervised Toothbrushing Programme in up to 102 Early Years settings, travelling from our base at Walton Hospital to the settings all in Derby City.

This will include signing up settings to take part in the City Smiles (Smile4Life) toothbrushing programme. Training staff. Collecting stock from a holding hub then delivering and maintaining the stock at each setting. Additionally managing the quality assurance and ongoing support for each setting to ensure robust delivery of the programme.

Engage with the community at occasional events to promote the service and offer brief intervention support to clients and staff.

To produce expanded public information using a variety of presentation formats and experience of using digital platforms eg, MS TEAMS.
