Summary
Skilled Machinist (Manual)
Reporting to the Production Manager duties are to operate all machines within the production department, Centre Lathes, Horizontal Borer (desirable), Radial Arm Drill, Ward Lathe, Vertical Miller, Band Saw, Pedestal Drills and all associated Hand tools. To assist with any necessary fitting work as and when necessary.
Objectives
• To Produce quality work to machining drawings.
• To be able to work without supervision to timescales set by Management/Supervisor.
Responsibilities
• To ensure that all work is carried out in a safe efficient manner, not taking un-necessary risks.
• To take pride in your work, get things right first time.
• Advise on any ways to improve efficiency through the 8D system.
• Ensure that at all times that the correct safety ware is worn.
• Ensure that your working area is kept tidy and clean and the machine you are using is clean and properly maintained (oil levels tooling etc)
Competencies
• To be able to operate all machines described previously, efficiently and without supervision.
• To be able to read machining drawings.
• To be able to use all test measuring equipment.
• To be able to manufacture Jigs and Tooling necessary to complete the job.
Standard hours Mon - Thurs 8am to 4.30pm and Friday 8am to 1pm
20 days holiday increasing by 1, each year of employment upto 25 days
Overtime 1.5 x or 2x on bank holidays and Sundays (as and when required)
