The Quality Engineer in Whitstable Job Opportunity
Senex Recruitment is working with a well-established manufacturing business in Whitstable to recruit a Quality Engineer. This role offers the chance to work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations teams to strengthen quality performance across the full product lifecycle, from new product introduction through to production and customer support.

The Quality Engineer will play a key role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), introducing robust processes, and driving continuous improvement across both office and factory environments.

Key Responsibilities for this Quality Engineer Job
Maintain and continuously improve product quality requirements and the Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
Support New Product Development activities, including metrology, documentation and APQP tools.
Work with Operations to introduce new products, equipment and manufacturing processes.
Lead investigations into customer complaints, using structured problem-solving methods.
Develop, implement and maintain control plans.
Investigate and resolve quality concerns using tools such as 8D problem solving.
Carry out complex measurement studies using CMMs and 3D scanning equipment.
Perform statistical analysis of quality data and interpret results to support decision-making.
Support prototype, sample and controlled product change builds through pre-production and production.
Produce monthly quality reports and contribute to management reviews.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum of a HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, or a recognised mechanical/inspection apprenticeship.
Significant experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment operating to ISO 9001.
Strong working knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, 8D and PPAP.
Advanced metrology experience, including hands-on use of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
Good understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
Experience applying lean principles and continuous improvement techniques.
Confident communicator with the ability to influence across engineering, operations and customer-facing teams.
Resilient, structured and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
Desirable (but not essential)
Degree in Engineering.
CQI membership.
Internal or Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 / ISO 14001).
Six Sigma qualification (Green or Black Belt).
