Summary

Part-Time Teaching Assistant – Dulwich, Southwark

We are seeking a committed and confident Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Southwark, starting as soon as possible.

This role is for two days per week (Thursday and Friday) and will involve working closely with pupils in Year 6, supporting them during a key stage of their learning as they prepare for end-of-year assessments and transition to secondary school.

Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant in Year 6, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils’ academic progress, particularly in Maths and English. You will work alongside the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning support, assist with lessons, and provide targeted intervention to individuals and small groups.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporting teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom
Assisting pupils with Maths and English lessons, ensuring understanding of key concepts
Delivering small group or one-to-one interventions where required
Supporting pupils to stay focused, engaged, and motivated
Helping to prepare classroom resources and learning materials
Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to the class teacher
Supporting pupils with varying learning needs in line with school policies

Candidate Requirements:
Strong knowledge and confidence in the Year 6 Maths and English curriculum
A good standard of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to explain concepts clearly
Confidence working with upper Key Stage 2 pupils
A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Ability to provide professional references
Availability to start immediately
Previous experience working in a primary school setting is highly desirable
