We are seeking to appoint a full‑time Teacher of Physical Education. This post offers a fantastic opportunity for an ECT or an experienced teacher. The department is highly supportive and collaborative, ensuring students receive high‑quality teaching across a broad, engaging and inclusive PE curriculum.
At Shevington High School, our aim in Physical Education is to create young people who develop a love for sport and physical activity which they can take into their future lives. We strive to provide an environment where students feel safe, have fun and are challenged to learn through the medium of PE and Sport.
Learning is centred around four key elements:
• Skill and Performance
• Key Knowledge Development
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Analysis of Performance
Through a balanced and varied curriculum — including invasion games, net and wall games, physical fitness, dance, outdoor activities and athletics — students develop confidence, resilience and a lifelong appreciation of healthy, active living. Many of our pupils continue to study in the field of Sport and PE post-16.
The successful candidate will:
• Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and passion for Physical Education.
• Inspire and motivate students to enjoy sport, physical activity and personal challenge.
• Deliver high‑quality lessons using adaptive teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
• Contribute to our extra‑curricular sports programme, fixtures and school competitions.
• Uphold our school values of respect, inclusion, aspiration and kindness.
Facilities include sports fields, sports hall, gymnasium, hard court areas and we will soon have our own 3G pitch.
This an exciting development for our team, and we look forward to hearing from applicants who feel they can complement and enhance the learning experiences that we currently offer, while embodying our school values in their approach to teaching and supporting students. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our pupils to lead active, healthy lives and develop lifelong participation in physical activity.
