Summary

Job Purpose:
To design, implement and maintain CI and DevOps systems that enable rapid, secure, repeatable software delivery for the project team. Ensure pipelines and the DevOps environment are operational, fit for purpose and improved; act as the project’s primary DevOps contact; monitor operations; validate changes in prototype environments; research and recommend practical enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
Build and sustain CI pipelines from provided designs, keeping them reliable, purpose‑aligned, and consistently producing the outputs the project team needs.

Identify and apply incremental enhancements to CI workflows to improve stability, speed, or maintainability.

Serve as the project’s DevOps lead contact, translating development requirements into operational practices and coordinating DevOps activities.

Continuously monitor the DevOps environment via dashboards, investigate alerts, and take or recommend corrective actions when issues arise.

Research emerging DevOps tools and practices independently, and present practical recommendations to the DevOps team for consideration.

Validate proposed changes in a prototype environment, designing and running agreed tests with the Senior DevOps Engineer and documenting results and evaluation criteria.

Skills & Competencies:
CI/CD design and implementation — build, maintain, and optimise pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).

Scripting and automation — proficient in Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar for automation and tooling.

Infrastructure as Code — experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.

Cloud platforms — hands‑on with AWS, Azure, or GCP (compute, storage, networking, IAM).

Containerisation and orchestration — Docker, Kubernetes, and related tooling (Helm, Kustomize).

Pipeline testing and validation — automated test integration, staging/prototype validation, rollback strategies.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s in CS/IT or equivalent practical experience; postgraduate desirable.

Experience: 3–5 years in DevOps/SRE/platform engineering; proven CI/CD and cloud deployments.

Certifications: Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP DevOps), CKA, Terraform Associate preferred.

Technical skills: CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), scripting (Python/Bash), Docker/Kubernetes, monitoring.

Soft skills: Strong problem solving, communication, incident response, collaboration, and continuous‑improvement mindset.
