We are pleased to advertise a Band 7 Midwifery Outpatient Team Leader role, evolving from the previous Antenatal Clinical Team Leader post to better meet the needs of women, families and the wider maternity system.

The post holder will provide visible, compassionate leadership within the antenatal outpatient service, ensuring high-quality, individualised care for women with moderate risk factors and additional considerations. A key element of this role is leading and delivering birth reflections for women and families, using a trauma-informed, compassionate and evidence-based approach to support recovery, learning and improved experience of care.

The role also has a strong service development focus, working proactively across the ICB to strengthen collaborative working and contribute to the ongoing development of outpatient maternity services. You will work closely with multidisciplinary and multi-agency partners to improve continuity, equity of access and system-wide learning.

The post holder will provide professional, clinical and operational leadership to the antenatal outpatient midwifery team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and woman-centred care. They will oversee the day-to-day running of antenatal clinics, including triage and management of referrals for women with moderate risk factors, ensuring care is delivered in line with local and national guidance.

A new core responsibility of the role is to lead and deliver birth reflections for women and families, using a trauma-informed, compassionate and evidence-based approach. The post holder will support women following complex or distressing birth experiences, contribute to learning from feedback and complaints, and promote psychologically safe practice for both women and staff.

The role includes providing specialist midwifery input as part of the multidisciplinary team, developing personalised care plans, and supporting women requesting care outside of guidance. The post holder will work proactively across the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to strengthen collaborative working, improve referral pathways and contribute to the development of outpatient maternity services.

The post holder will be responsible for staff leadership, including supervision, appraisal, rota management, sickness management and professional development. They will lead on quality improvement, audit, governance and risk management, and continuous improvement across the service.
