We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Children’s Department.

Our Children’s Department covers two sites, Queens Hospital in Romford and King George’s Hospital in Ilford and deliver a comprehensive range of general medical and surgical services to our local population and have two inpatient wards along with a range of other services dedicated to the care of children. We have two Emergency Department’s for children, and their combined attendances are among the busiest in the country with over 62,000 children’s attendances each year.

Alongside the role you will be completing the Level 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker apprenticeship. If you already hold this or another healthcare qualification at Level 3 then you are not eligible to apply.

You will have excellent communication skills, an ability to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and a positive can-do attitude. If you are an enthusiastic, highly motivated person who is committed, caring and willing to learn then come and join our fantastic team.

To be eligible for an Apprenticeship you must meet the following criteria:

Be 18 years old or over

Have the right to work in the UK

Have been permanently resident in the UK for the past 3 years

The post holder will assist the Ward Manager in the provision of a clean, well maintained ward area with effective stock ordering and rotation, appropriate management and escalation of equipment and estates issues which require attention or repair together with effective escalation of concerns related to cleaning and catering.

We run aWomen’s Health Hub in Ilford; anAgeing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospital and atSt George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
