My client is a leading company that assists clients in their demand for cleaner energy solutions for their companies and are now looking to recruit some additional Site Based Project Manager for a 5 – 6 month project based in Wakefield starting in January/February 2026.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
This role would suit a UK military veteran with experience in operations, engineering, construction management, or site leadership who is comfortable taking responsibility for people, resources, safety, and delivery in a demanding environment.
You will lead and coordinate site activity on a live project, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification—very similar to managing personnel, equipment, and tasks on operational deployments or large-scale exercises.
Key Responsibilities
• Take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, maintaining control of personnel, safety, and delivery
• Lead, brief, and coordinate site teams, contractors, and specialist trades
• Enforce health & safety, site discipline, and compliance, ensuring standards are met at all times
• Conduct regular site inspections, identifying risks, defects, or delays and implementing corrective action
• Monitor project timelines and ensure milestones are achieved
• Coordinate materials, plant, tools, and deliveries, ensuring the site remains operationally effective
• Review and interpret drawings, plans, and technical documentation
• Identify and resolve issues quickly, maintaining momentum and standards
• Produce daily reports, progress updates, and site documentation
• Liaise with engineers, inspectors, senior stakeholders, and clients
• Ensure correct use, storage, and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Support inspections and ensure follow-up actions are completed
This would be an ideal role for someone who has a background in Royal Engineers, REME or Royal Navy or RAF Engineering or Construction roles. Ideally you will probably be an NCO/Officer with site, project, or troop leadership experience
Essential Skills & Experience
• Proven leadership and team management capability
• Experience working in structured, safety-critical environments
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and plans
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Qualifications (Essential)
• Full UK Driving Licence
• SMSTS certification
• First Aid qualification
• Enhanced DBS clearance
Desirable (Not Essential)
• Solar PV installation experience
• Experience on large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects
• Logistics, warehousing, or automation system experience
• Contractor and subcontractor management
• Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
As this is a site-based role in an active construction environment, you will be hands-on in a fast paced and leadership focused.
