Summary

The CSW Social Worker will work within front-line Children’s Services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. The role involves managing a caseload of children and families with varying levels of complexity, including safeguarding, child protection, and court work, while working within statutory frameworks and council policies.

The post holder will undertake assessments, plan and deliver interventions, and work directly with children, young people, and their families to reduce risk and improve outcomes. This includes completing child and family assessments, care planning, risk management, and contributing to decision-making processes that support children to remain safely within their families wherever possible.

The role requires close partnership working with internal teams and external agencies such as health, education, police, and voluntary sector partners. The post holder will attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, and court proceedings, producing high-quality reports and maintaining accurate case records in line with statutory requirements.

The CSW Social Worker will work under supervision while demonstrating increasing professional autonomy, reflective practice, and sound professional judgement. The role involves applying relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice, including the Children Act, safeguarding procedures, and the Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework.

The post holder must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with post-qualifying experience in children and families social work. Strong assessment, report writing, communication, and decision-making skills are essential, along with the ability to manage risk and work effectively in a fast-paced front-line environment. An Enhanced DBS clearance is required.
