Working as part of the Connected and Automated Mobility Services (CAMS) team the product specialist role will support CAM services development and deployment. The DVSA CAMs products cover Driver, Vehicle and Regulatorily services within the Automated Vehicle Act implementation programme, to deliver services within DVSA. As a CAMS technical product specialist, you will support the development, integration and implementation of various CAMS technical products into the relevant DVSA services. This will include working with vehicle data and telematics. You will also support operational delivery/trialling while monitoring and evaluating CAMS technical products.

The post holder will need to develop policies by understanding the legislation and regulations that will govern CAM deployments on GB roads. This is a rapidly evolving technical environment and will require a proactive and flexible approach to personal development to keep up to date with technology development, use cases and GB Government objectives. The role will closely interact with Department for Transport (DfT), Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), industry, public sector and other government bodies, as well as DVSA teams including policy, operations, enforcement and digital services.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Working with the product manager and other product specialists, support the development and delivery of the CAMS product(s) with a focus on vehicle technology to meet the team objectives.Using expert policy, service and technical experience provide detailed CAMS product knowledge to key stakeholders.Provide expert technical product/policy advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders and customers/end users on any component of the product lifecycle. This may include presentations to groups, dealing with telephone enquiries, handling written requests, incidents and complaints.Work with the CCAV and DVSA’s user researchers to ensure excellent understanding of stakeholder requirements so that well-informed policy / service development and improvement decisions can be made. This will include analysing and interpreting information on customers/end users.For further information on the role, please read the role profile.
