About the job.

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Business Services Manager to join the National Highways team. As a Business Services Manager, you will manage the effective delivery of business support and administrative services for the Planning and Performance Directorate, championing continuous improvement, and sharing best practice with other relevant functions throughout the organisation.

The role will be worked on a hybrid basis with 40% in the office and 60% working from home.

  • Identify and assess the correspondence authoring requirements of the Planning and Performance Directorate, ensuring there is appropriate allocation of resources to meet these.
  • Ensure that all relevant customer facing administration, such as responding to enquiries, high-level correspondence, and Freedom or Information (FoI) requests are delivered in a timely and professional manner,
  • Produce reports, presentations, and other documents, collating and analysing relevant information and statistics from identified sources to support own work and the work of others.
  • Monitor and proactively manage the performance of the team, ensuring all line management responsibilities are fulfilled.

About you.

  • Previous experience of managing successful teams in a shared business service environment.
  • Previous experience of authoring customer correspondence in line with guidelines, working across multiple stakeholders to gather information and inform the correspondence
  • Evidence of working in a customer service background with excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills as well as stakeholder management skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Experience with standard office software products to enable production and maintenance of a range of complex documents and spreadsheets.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
