We are looking for an AutoCAD Technician with experience in building surveying to join our Orpington team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong CAD skills and a solid understanding of buildings—not mechanical or structural engineering—to build a long-term career in a respected surveying practice.
Role Overview
As an AutoCAD Technician within our Building Surveying team, you will produce accurate 2D drawings, support measured surveys, and contribute to the delivery of projects that have a meaningful social impact. The role includes regular site visits to capture measurements and verify details.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out measured building surveys on site.
• Produce accurate 2D drawings for surveys, plans, sections, and specifications
using AutoCAD.
• Interpret survey data and convert it into clear, precise technical drawings.
• Support building surveyors with layouts, floor plans, elevations, and detailing.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant standards, regulations, and internal
quality processes.
• Maintain organised drawing records and documentation.
• Collaborate with surveyors and project teams to deliver work on time and to a
high standard.
• Attend site visits as needed to gather measurements and check information.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an AutoCAD Technician within building
surveying, architecture, or general building design.
• Strong proficiency in 2D AutoCAD.
• Good understanding of building construction, building pathology, and surveying
terminology.
• Ability to translate real-world building layouts into accurate 2D drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Confident communicator and team player.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
• Understanding of topographical surveying.
• Experience with planning applications or the planning process.
• Familiarity with BIM or 3D modelling software.
• Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.
• Relevant CAD or technical qualifications.
