Summary

Passionate about events? passionate about museums? The Pitt Rivers Museum is recruiting an Events Assistant to support the delivery of a varied programme of public and private events in a world-class cultural institution.
The Pitt Rivers Museum is part of the University of Oxford’s Gardens, Libraries and Museums division and is one of the world’s leading museums of anthropology and archaeology. We are seeking an energetic and organised Event Assistant to support the delivery of a busy programme of commercial, internal and public engagement events within this unique venue.

You will support the planning, coordination and delivery of a wide range of daytime and evening events, including venue hire, conferences, weddings, ceremonies and public engagement activities. You will act as a first point of contact for event enquiries, support client visits, prepare event documentation, assist with event administration and provide on-site operational support during events. Working closely with the Events Manager and colleagues across the Museum and wider University, you will help ensure events are delivered safely, professionally and to a high standard, while protecting the Museum’s collections and historic spaces.

This is a full-time post, working 36.5 hours per week. The role is primarily on site and requires flexibility, including regular evening and occasional weekend working, depending on event schedules. 0.8 FTE will be considered.

About You
You will have experience supporting or delivering events in a customer-facing or client-focused environment and will be confident working in a fast-paced operational setting. You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to deal calmly, diplomatically and professionally with a wide range of clients, contractors and colleagues. You will be well organised, proactive and adaptable, with good IT skills and the ability to manage competing priorities to deadlines. You will also be comfortable undertaking practical tasks such as setting up event spaces and moving equipment, and you will enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team within a public-facing cultural environment.

• An excellent contributory pension scheme
• 38 days of annual leave
