In this role you will:
• Be the first point of contact for customers and responding to Freedom of Information requests, General Enquiries, Flood Risk Activity Permits enquiries across West Midlands.
• Co-ordinate and respond to correspondence and enquiries, ensuring that customers receive responses within the agreed timeframe.
• Facilitate effective working across the team by maintaining and developing information storage and retrieval systems and keeping information up to date and readily accessible.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents. This may attract additional payment, and full training and workplace adjustments will be available to support you.

We will provide relevant training so that you are successful in your role and able to offer technical and practical advice. You will also be offered opportunities for training in other workstreams, that include project management, planning, mapping and modelling.

The team
Partnership and Strategic Overview (PSO) Team, work with other Risk Management Authorities and communities to develop and deliver flood risk management assets to reduce flood risk to communities.

We use best available evidence through our mapping/modelling work to inform long-term plans and investment programme. PSO provide advice on Flood Risk Assessments for development proposals, to influence the location and design of new developments. In PSO we respond to Freedom of Information Requests and General Enquiries.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the following:

• Strong focus on attention to detail, ensuring all work is delivered to the highest standard.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal colleagues and external customers.
- Confidence in planning, tracking, and managing data and information effectively.
- Knowledge of MS Office 365 and GIS (desirable but not essential).
- Skill in assessing evidence and data to inform decisions and improve understanding of risk.
- Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also managing a varied workload independently to achieve planned outcomes.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt under pressure, and remain flexible in a fast‑paced environment.
- Passion for the environment and enthusiasm for learning new skills.
- Initiative, strong communication skills, and resilience in overcoming challenges to deliver successful outcomes.
