As the Lead, you will plan and deliver a variety of creative, and play-based activities that inspire and entertain children aged 4–11 years. You will take responsibility for the smooth running of the clubs, maintaining high standards of care and compliance, and fostering positive relationships with parents, children, and school staff.
The Company
First Step Sports Group is a leading provider of physical activity and training services across the North of England. Based in Yorkshire, we work with schools, local authorities, community groups, and families to promote active, healthy lifestyles.
Our group includes several specialist divisions: First Step Physical Education, First Step Training, First Step Cycle, Ballers, Active Care, and Kids Takeover – each focused on delivering excellence in their area of expertise.
The Position
This role calls for someone who is creative, and passionate about providing exceptional care. You’ll bring energy and imagination to every session, creating a safe and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, and thrive.
We’re looking for a leader who can inspire confidence in parents and excitement in children, while ensuring the smooth running of the after-school clubs. If you have childcare experience and a relevant qualification, and you love being creative and playful with children, this could be the perfect role for you.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:15pm – 5:15pm (Term-time only)
Responsibilities
• Lead the day-to-day operation of the Morning and After School Clubs.
• Deliver an outstanding customer experience and act as the main point of contact for parents and carers.
• Ensure the safeguarding and well-being of all children in your care.
• Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and professionals to support every child’s development.
• Handle queries and resolve complaints promptly and professionally.
• Promote the clubs within the school and local community.
• Prepare and serve a light breakfast/tea for children attending the Active Care sessions.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
• Excellent organisation and time management skills
• Level 2/3 Childcare or Playwork qualification (desirable)
• Level 2 Food Hygiene (training can be provided)
• Paediatric First Aid (training can be provided)
First Step Sports Group is an equal opportunity employer.
All successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
The recruitment process will consist of three stages: a telephone interview, a practical assessment, and a face-to-face interview.
