Summary

Join our dynamic and forward‑thinking Respiratory Department as a Locum Consultant and play a key role in shaping high‑quality, patient‑centred care. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team of four consultants, delivering a balanced mix of ward‑based, outpatient, and procedural work. You will undertake two ward rounds per week on Burstead or Orsett wards, run three outpatient clinics, and lead a bronchoscopy list every other week, ensuring a rich and varied clinical schedule.

Our rotational model provides structured off‑ward time, allowing consultants to focus on inpatient referrals and outpatient triage while contributing to seamless service delivery. You will also participate in the general medical and respiratory on‑call rotas, including a 1‑in‑7 weekend commitment.

We are looking for a proactive and collaborative clinician who embraces innovation and is adaptable to evolving service needs, including future opportunities for 7‑day working. With a job plan comprising 10 PAs (plus an optional APA), you will enjoy a blend of Direct Clinical Care and Supporting Professional Activities, supported through regular job plan reviews at 3, 6, and 12 months.

This role offers the chance to develop and lead within your specialist interest area, supported by a team committed to excellence, development, and high‑quality patient outcomes.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
