Hays are regularly being approached by schools in the Wigan area for EYFS and KS1 teachers to work on a temporary basis, providing daily cover when classes are left absent by the teacher. Your new role
In this role, you will be responsible for covering the KS1 classes. In day-to-day roles, these lessons will be pre-planned, so it is all about making sure they are delivered in an engaging and exciting way to the pupils. You should have good knowledge of phonics in order to help pupils progress under your supervision. If you do secure a short or long-term role, then you will be expected to plan lessons based on pupil ability, so it is important you can come in and hit the ground running in any school. Day-to-day supply is a great way to have a work/life balance and is a perfect opportunity to explore various primary schools to find one that suits you.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, hold qualified teacher status (QTS) gained in the UK. You will need to be able to manage groups of children and be able to manage challenging behaviour. This could be a perfect role for an NQT/ECT that is looking to gain some experience working within the primary school environment.
