Summary

We're looking for a Technology Engineer to join our Transportation team based in Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham. In this role you'll be a valued member of the Kier Transportation technology delivery team, supporting with all works relating to the installation, testing and commissioning of highways technology equipment and associated infrastructure across the National Highways (NH). A current full driving license is essential for the role as site visits will be required

Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham - travel to the office required with some remote working available

Hours: Permanent Fulltime 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £37,500 - £42,500 per year + £5,000 annual car allowance + excellent benefits

What will you be responsible for?

As a Technology Engineer you'll be part of the Kier's in house installation and commissioning capability, predominantly supporting existing Maintenance and Response contracts mixed with diverse schemes across our portfolios You'll act as a subject matter expert for the installation of highways technology equipment, bringing strong technical capability and problem-solving skills.

Your day to day will include:

-Installation, testing and commissioning of highways technology equipment and associated infrastructure on the high-speed network and APTR's, including but not limited to CCTV, MIDAS, message signs and signals

-Identifying and applying appropriate methodologies and standards to deliver effective compliant and innovative solutions, while actively recording efficiencies and improvements

-Ensuring all health and safety requirements are met in line with current CDM regulations, working with Team Managers, Project Managers and Designers utilising appropriate risk assessments

-Provide specialist technical support for wider areas, such as NH Schemes, including attendance at meetings and preparation of reports

-Liaising with third party supply chain to coordinate tasks, share information and achieve required outputs

-Engage in training initiatives, mentor junior engineers and pursue continuous professional development

-Undertake night works as and when required.



What are we looking for?

This role of Technology Engineer is ideal if you have:

-Working knowledge and experience of Highways England standards and procedures

-Solid understanding of highways technology assets with experience across technical areas including CCTV, MIDAS, VMS & Signals, roadside equipment, power supplies and distribution, communications cable networks, NRTS, RCC in-station equipment

-The ability to identify coloured wiring by sight
