Our Partner Pupil Referral Unit is a caring, restorative and inclusive environment supporting secondary pupils with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs. Our values emphasise respect, inclusion, resilience and personalised learning. We are seeking a committed HLTA / Senior Learning Mentor (Level 4) to lead interventions, support pupils with complex needs and contribute to our whole-school pastoral and SEND provision.
About the Role
Reporting to the Student Services Manager, you will play a key role in:

Leading pastoral, SEND and behaviour interventions
-
Delivering whole-group sessions across Literacy, Numeracy, PSHE/RSE, Outdoor Learning, Day 6, therapeutic programmes and more

Providing 1:1 mentoring, emotional support and managing crises

Supporting pupils excluded or working off timetable
-
Assessing pupil needs and implementing SEND, ILP and behaviour support plans

Acting as a role model and building productive relationships

Supporting reintegration and transitions
-
Monitoring progress, recording data and producing reports
-
Liaising with parents/carers, teachers and external agencies
-
Contributing to behaviour management systems and inclusion processes
-
Supporting a safe, structured environment indoors and outdoors
-
Supervising educational visits, enrichment and off-site learning
-
Line managing Learning Mentors, delivering supervision, team meetings and performance management
Person Specification
We are looking for a dedicated professional with:
Essential Experience & Qualifications-
Experience working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH, behavioural needs or complex learning difficulties
-
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
-
NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent qualifications/experience)
-
Ability to undertake HLTA-level responsibilities
-
Strong ability to build relationships with both children and adults
-
Understanding of the role of Teaching Assistants and classroom professionals
-
Confidence using relevant technology (e.g., photocopiers, basic ICT)
-
Full understanding of the national curriculum, learning programmes and barriers to learning
-
Knowledge of child development, learning processes and behaviour management strategies
-
Ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachievement
-
Awareness of support services, multi-agency working and relevant legislation
-
Full working knowledge of policies, codes of practice and safeguarding procedures
-
Ability to self-evaluate and actively seek learning opportunities

Willingness to undertake first aid training
-
Tact, diplomacy and professionalism in all interactions

Self-motivation and strong personal drive
