Summary
Our Community Engagement Officer role has the dual aims of helping to ensure we communicate effectively externally, whilst also working to support a strong community.
We want to continually improve how we communicate with residents and other stakeholders and as part of this our Community Engagement Officer helps us develop new ways of reaching people and build on those we already have. You will prepare our monthly e-newsletter to our residents to share council and community group news, prepare regular press releases and news articles and maintain the council’s noticeboards and our main website and social media.
Our Community Engagement Officer will help facilitate public consultations and ongoing two-way engagement, from planning how best to reach target stakeholders through to analysing what we’ve been told and putting words into actions.
We are also keen to expand volunteering opportunities with the council, both to enable us to do more and also to provide meaningful opportunities for people to give back to their community. You will help develop these schemes and manage volunteer recruitment and retention. We plan to have schemes to support events and undertake things like litter picks and tackling overgrown footpaths.
Our Community Engagement Officer will also provide support to the various community organisations in Knutsford. From providing advice on how to get set up, matching them with volunteers and directing/helping them secure grant funding to deliver projects for the community. You will also produce a monthly community e-newsletter targeted at those involved in such organisations, all with the aim of having a strong and diverse network of community groups.
We are keen to develop a Knutsford Youth Strategy which will help us, and partner organisations, ensure Knutsford better provides for young people. You will play a key role in helping to develop this, reaching young people and helping to plan action.
Everything you do will be supporting our strategic aims of leading a strong community and ensuring access to local services and facilities.
