Passenger Assistants provide a vital link for children with or without special educational needs enabling them to ensure attendance in education.

What will my role look like?


We have an exciting opportunity to become a Passenger Assistant for NELC. You will be part of a friendly team who provide an excellent standard of service and support who really make a difference to the lives of children & young people that are eligible for transport provided by our service.


Working times are generally arranged around school start and finish times, but hours can vary depending on which route you are required to travel on, this could be in the local area or to a neighbouring authority.


You will be picked up from your home by our driver and returned after each journey.


A typical day is generally split between morning school drop off and collection in the afternoon.


Timings may look like:*


0800am - collection from your home address


0930am - dropped back at home/ work


1430pm - collection from home/work address


1600pm - dropped back at home address


*timings may vary on location/educational requirments


*For our casual colleagues, we would look to match your availabilty on a weekly basis to fulfill our rota requirments. We may sometimes need to call at shorter notice to see if you are available to cover sickness/annual leave etc.


Who are we looking for?


You will be working closely with children & young people, their parents, and carers, showing patience and understanding and be able to communicate with people from all backgrounds, making every journey a positive and enjoyable experience.


You may have specialist knowledge of working directly with children with special educational needs. You will be polite, courteous and respectful of confidentiality.


A caring, compassionate, and responsible attitude towards children and young adults is essential. A basic knowledge of first aid would be advantageous but is not essential.


Please note: You must live within North East Lincolnshire or be able to make your own way to an agreed pick-up point within 15 minutes travel from the route.
