Summary
Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment are seeking to appoint a Freight Coordinator for an international employer based in the Bridgend area.
The primary purpose of this role is to effectively manage and develop customer accounts within an allocated international territory. This includes raising quotations and processing orders, preparing all documentation required for international shipments, and providing first-class customer service from enquiry through to delivery. The role supports global export operations across air, sea, and road freight, ensuring compliance with company standards, international trade regulations, and customer expectations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Create, manage, and own customer accounts within the allocated territory.
Raise and process customer quotes and orders accurately.
Prepare paperwork and documentation required to successfully ship and clear international orders.
Provide high-level customer service, taking full ownership of customers within the designated region.
Prepare shipments leaving the UK via air, sea, and road freight (including groupage).
Promote the company’s product portfolio and develop customer relationships within the sector.
Meet exceptional team standards to optimise sales opportunities and convert enquiries into orders.
Key Responsibilities
Process customer quotations and orders for all international customers.
Respond to customer enquiries professionally and promptly.
Act as the customer’s internal advocate, communicating clearly and managing expectations.
Liaise with internal departments to resolve queries from start to finish.
Check technical information and pricing against data sheets and costing models.
Maintain accurate and compliant records in line with regulatory and company standards.
Manage customer escalations and act as a point of contact on behalf of the department.
Documentation & Freight Preparation
Prepare transport arrangements for orders, including all required shipping and customs documentation.
Produce international export documents such as Commercial Invoices, EUR1, Certificates of Origin, Letters of Credit, and Cash Against Documents.
Keep all shipping records updated and accurate.
Route shipments according to company policies and customer requirements.
Monitor timelines throughout transport planning, loading, and execution phases, including shipment tracking.
Ensure compliance with all relevant export/import laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Contribute to ongoing business improvement initiatives and support the achievement of company objectives.
Act as an ambassador for the company at all times.
Comply with Fatal Risk Standards, the Health & Safety Policy, and safe working practices.
Carry out any additional tasks appropriate to the role.
Capabilities & Qualifications (Desirable)
Relevant qualifications in International Trade, Export, Logistics, or a related field.
Knowledge & Skills Essential
3–5 years’ experience in export sales.
Strong knowledge of Incoterms 2010.
Experience with air, sea, and road freight, including customs procedures.
Full understanding of the export order process.
High attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
Customer-focused and process-driven approach.
Strong commercial awareness.
Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills at all levels, with a professional telephone manner.
Ability to quickly assess situations and respond appropriately.
Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Experience using MS Teams.
Ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Desirable
Experience producing export documentation (Commercial Invoices, EUR1, Certificates of Origin, etc.).
Knowledge of CRM systems.
Experience within a manufacturing order process.
Industry familiarity or product knowledge (training provided).
